Warm Mix Asphalt | Asphalt Pavement Association of Oregon

Hot mix asphalt (HMA) is the traditional process for constructing asphalt pavements. HMA is manufactured in a central mixing facility (typically called a hot mix plant) and consists of high quality aggregate and asphalt cement. The two are heated and mixed while hot to completely coat the aggregate with asphalt cement.

Effects of Iron Ore Tailing on Performance of Hot-Mix Asphalt

This work evaluated the use of IOT in hot mix asphalt type C (HMA-C). For this purpose, IOT was incorporated as a filler (at 1% in relation to the total mass of HMA-C). The hot asphalt mix with IOT (called HMA-IOT) was designed and compared with a control HMA-C. The behavior of the mixtures under monotonic (indirect tensile strength, ITS, and ...

Asphalt Pavement Construction - Asphalt Institute

Mix temperature will be dependent on the grade of asphalt used in the mix. The less viscous the asphalt, the lower the temperatures should be. The more viscous the asphalt, the higher the temperature can be. During mix design temperatures are specified for proper mixing and for compaction. These are good targets with which to start a project.
