Chalcocite and galena do not float with n–dodecane, even when the dose of the nonpolar collector for chalcocite flotation is increased. The studies explain a selective influence of the nonpolar collector on flotation of the copper sulfides ore from LGOM. keywords: flotation, nonpolar collectors, sulfides, shale, chalcopyrite, chalcocite, bornite,
In this work, ores containing different types and quantities of aluminosili-cate minerals, as well as copper sulfides (i.e., chalcopyrite and chalcocite), were examined in the labora-tory to ...
The chalcocite-like phase replaces bornite at a depth of 22.86 m in drill hole 2, and bornite is clearly a replacement of chalcopyrite in drill holes 2 and 3 (Fig. 8). Root-like patches of bornite intrude into the chalcopyrite and progressively replace more and more chalcopyrite in grains nearer the surface.
Symplectites comprising clausthalite (PbSe) and host Cu-(Fe)-sulphides (chalcocite, bornite, and chalcopyrite) are instructive for constraining the genesis of Cu-Au-(U) ores if adequately ...
Copper is mainly found in the ore chalcopyrite (CuFeS2). Bornite, covellite and chalcocite other other sources of copper. Sulphides that contain the most copper are found deeper within an iodes, with weathered copper found near the surface of a deposit take the form of oxides and carbonates.
Solubilities of the assemblages chalcopyrite (CuFeS 2) + pyrite (FeS 2) + bornite (Cu 5 FeS 4) and copper + chalcocite (Cu 2 S) have been measured in subcritical aqueous solutions of NaCl and NaHS + H 2 S under the following conditions: 200 degrees to 350 degrees C; a range of pH within 2.5 of neutral in sulfide solutions, and 1.5 of neutral in chloride solutions; up to 10.4 m NaCl and 2.85 m ...

Well, ok, this is what I've found--some of the confusion lies in the fact that chemically speaking, Chalcopyrite and Bornite are sooooooo close, hold on nah, so I'm gonna go science on ya for a moment--Chalcopyrite is CuFeS 2 with Bornite being Cu 5 FeS 4 both are copper iron sulfides. Both apparently get sold as Peacock Ore with an acid bath.
bn = bornite cov = covelite cch = chalcocite. FIG. 5 indicates that if iron is added to chalcopyrite at 500°C, the chalcopyrite would be converted to bornite and pyrrhotite. Further addition of iron would not result in any additional desulfurization or conversion to metallic copper.
Bornite. Bornite, also known as peacock ore, is a sulfide mineral with chemical composition Cu5FeS4 that crystallizes in the orthorhombic system (pseudo-cubic). The vertical stratigraphic sequence from chalcocite to chalcocite/bornite/ pyrite within the ore zone and, finally, into a pyritic hanging wall, is best developed in these levels of No. 2 orebody. Trace chalcopyrite occurs mainly along shears, especially in …
30th Mar 2013 14:19 UTCReiner Mielke Expert. The first is probably as Stephanie said treated Chalcopyrite, however the second may be Chalcocite. Freshly broken bornite is brown ( tarnishes in a few days to bluish grey) whereas freshly broken chacolcite is dark bluish grey. You will need to break a corner off to find out.
Chalcopyrite is a copper iron sulfide mineral and the most abundant copper ore mineral. It has the chemical formula CuFeS2 and crystallizes in the tetragonal system. It has a brassy to golden yellow color and a hardness of 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale. Its streak is diagnostic as green tinged black.
ABSTRACT: Ore microscopy study for some samples from Mawat complex NE Iraq (part of Zagros Suture Zone) showed the presence of copper ore minerals was irregularly distributed, mainly throughout the basic rocks of Mawat Ophiolite Complex. The main sulfides minerals identified were: chalcopyrite, pyrite, bornite, chalcocite and covellite.
Copper is most commonly present in the earth's crust as copper–iron–sulfide and copper sulfide minerals, for example, chalcopyrite (CuFeS 2), bornite (Cu 5 FeS 4), and chalcocite (Cu 2 S). The concentrations of these minerals in an ore body are low. Typical copper ores contain from 0.5% Cu (open-pit mines) to 1−2% Cu (underground mines).
The chalcopyrite-pyrite mixed type ore and chalcopyrite-bornite mixed type ore samples were obtained from Daye Mine of Hubei Province of China and Meizhou Mine of Guangdong province of China, respectively. X-ray diffraction (XRD) (Fig.1 (a) and (b)) indicated that the former mainly contained chalcopyrite and pyrite, the latter mainly contained ...
Republic [24]. Early Bronze Age (EBA onwards) relict bornite, chalcocite, and chalcopyrite fragments from slags of the Seriphos [25] and Kea [26] islands in Greece were found. Chalcopyrite, bornite, covellite, digenite, and chalcocite droplets and clasts were determined in the EBA copper slags of Austrian Tirol [27].

Chalcopyrite, chalcocite and bornite, which are often intergrown, are the principal ore minerals. Late digenite, covellite, chalcocite and goethite replace chalcopyrite and bornite along crystal edges or along cracks in those minerals. Bornite can be altered to chalcopyrite at mineral edges, although the converse is infrequent.

The Qunji Cu deposit is situated at west of Awulale metallognic belt, western Tianshan, Xinjiang. The deposit has two kinds of ores: disseminated and vien type. The sulfides in disseminated type ore include pyrite, chalcopyrite, bornite and chalcocite. The order of sulfide-forming is that pyrite-chalcopyrite-bornite-chalcocite. The vien type ore mainly includes borntie and some pyrite and ...
The ore consists of massive sulfides in veins, pipes and stringers, and disseminated sulfides. The sulfide paragenesis in the primary ore consists of chalcopyrite, bornite, chalcocite, and pyrite. Other sulfides, such as wittichenite, idaite, molybdenite and carrollite are …

Chalcocite (Cu 2 S) is a lead-grey or black mineral, found as a copper ore or in veins. It is a source of copper. It is most commonly found as a supergene mineral in the enriched zones of sulfide deposits. It is also occurs in hydrothermal veins. It has a hardness of 2½ – 3 on the Mohs scale. It is a sulfide with an orthorhombic crystal system.
The ore minerals in the 109 porphyry Cu deposit are composed of Cu-(Fe)-sulfides, including chalcopyrite, bornite, and chalcocite (Figure 5). The Cu-(Fe)-sulfides typically show metasomatic and exsolution textures, which indicate the following paragenesis: chalcopyrite → bornite → chalcocite .
The slide contains chalcopyrite (35%), bornite (3%), chalcocite (I%), covellite (I%), diopside (60%), and trace malachite. There is two phases to the chalcopyrite that can be seen. Chalcocite is replacing the bornite and chalcopyrite in the cracks and along the edges between the gangue and the ore. The gangue is diopside. MU-005

Remember that porphyry copper deposits often have additional ore grade minerals such as molybdenite (MoS2). An average ore grade for the Chino porphyry copper deposit is 0.74 wt% copper and 0.012 wt.% molybdenum.
