Quick vid showing a new spot with Great Gold in Limonite that we blasted out using a Sierra Blaster.Easy and affordable way to get the Gold out.
A similar case was noticed by Mactear in South America, where a limonite ore which only yielded from 35 to 40 per cent, of its gold when treated in Huntington pans, was made to yield between 85 and 90 per cent, by merely subjecting it to a dehydrating calcination before amalgamating it.
2k. Male. Share. Posted November 1, 2008. Pool acid will not work and I'm not sure any single acid will either. One acid might attack the quartz and leave the limonite and the gold. Another acid might attack the limonite and leave the quartz and gold. I guess you could try and use both separately but I'm not sure what your intentions are.
Gold vein stockwork in limonite from Colorado, USA. (public display, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Denver, Colorado) The Colorado rock shown above, nicknamed "Tom's Baby", is an extremely high-grade gold ore. It was found in 1887 at Farncomb Hill, Colorado by two miners, Tom Grove and Harry Lytton. The rock was carried from the mine by Tom Grove, who held it as if he was …
In the Dahlonega gold belt in Lumpkin County, Georgia gold was mined from limonite-rich lateritic or saprolite soil. The gold of the primary veins was concentrated into the limonites of the deeply weathered rocks. In another example the deeply weathered iron formations of Brazil served to concentrate gold with the limonite of the resulting soils.
DESCRIPTIVE MODEL OF LATERITE-SAPROLITE Au By Gregory E. McKelvey BRIEF DESCRIPTION SYNONYM: Eluvial gold placers (Boyle, 1979), Au-bearing saprolite (Becker, 1895). DESCRIPTION: Au disseminated in laterite and saprolite that developed under conditions of tropical weathering (fig. 32) over a wide variety of bedrock types but distal to known bedrock gold deposits.
Gold in Gossan. March 2003 by Edgar B. Heylmun, PhD. Gossan is defined as being an iron-bearing capping over a sulfide deposit. It is formed by the oxidation and leaching of sulfide minerals, leaving hydrated iron oxides such as limonite and goethite, along with manganese oxides.
Limonite Meanings, Zodiacs, Planets, Elements, Colors, Chakras, and more. Science & Origin of LimoniteLimonite is the name given to a family of iron hydroxides (or other mixed oxides) and is one of the 3 major sources of naturally occurring iron here on Earth (@Hematite@ and @Goethite@ being the other 2). It can crystallize in many forms, most notably as a mass or cubic occurrence, but also as ...

Limonite is a matrix base of many other minerals, and the term gossan is used as a reference to Limonite when it is used as a a matrix for another mineral or has formed an undesirable staining on top of it. Limonite is extremely common and forms the coloring matter in many soils.

Limonite (/ ˈ l aɪ. m ə ˌ n aɪ t /) is an iron ore consisting of a mixture of hydrated iron(III) oxide-hydroxides in varying composition. The generic formula is frequently written as FeO(OH)· n H 2 O, although this is not entirely accurate as the ratio of oxide to hydroxide can vary quite widely. Limonite is one of the three principal iron ores, the others being hematite and magnetite ...

A quartz–barite– limonite vein up to 3 m wide crops out near the hilltop. An inclined drill hole in the 1990s intersected only minor copper and gold mineralization. The boulders and pyrite precursor of the limonite suggest a hypogene advanced argillic or high sulfidation epithermal system.
